SPARK Oldham CIC are excited to invite you to our marketplace event to celebrate International Men’s day on Tuesday 19th November 2024 from 12pm to 2pm at the Boundary Suite, Oldham Event Centre, Hilbre Avenue, Oldham OL2 5BL; see attached flyer for full details.
SPARK Oldham are a Community Interest Company driven by a deep passion for supporting people at all stages of life with a vision of transforming lives. We believe that strong mental health, vibrant youth groups and accessible volunteering opportunities are essential for a thriving community.
This event is to showcase the fantastic work in and around Oldham, connect with others and identify where we can collaborate to support the wellbeing of men in the borough.

This event will be promoted to the public once we have confirmation of partners attending so we can include your logo on the flyer along with any offers available on the day. This is the ideal opportunity for you to spread the word about the amazing things in Oldham to celebrate and support men.
We appreciate times are difficult and budgets are tight but would you be willing to support the event if you are able to? If so, in what capacity?

I had a cancellation of a meeting so can do this date! I’ve reached out to Kim to see if we can still host a stall. In any case, I’ll attend 
On it and we have a stall. I reached out to Kim asking if there were any particular priority needs expressed by men so that we can cater our stand a bit better. I’ll likely ask for requests in the next few weeks, but it hopefully won’t involve 3D printing too many things - especially not medals!
So I’ve had a thought about International Men’s Day, which is based around building Mental Health Champions:
-Building healthy communities
-Look out for your mates
-Take Action, Stay Healthy
-Creating a healthier future
I was thinking of the following few activities for our stall (and obviously if someone wants to come along on the 19th of November they would be more than welcome to!)
- Create a logo using ChatGPT of their strengths, wishes, etc. AND then print on a little printer. Do we have one of those? **I can do this on the day if I also have the little printer (ARCELI Mini Thermal Printer, 200DPI Wireless Bluetooth BT4.0 Photo Printer, Portable Thermal Printer Compatible with Android or iOS APP for Pictures/Notes/Lists/QR Codes(with 5 Roll Thermal Paper) : Amazon.co.uk: Stationery & Office Supplies)
- A VR game where they can play against each other - do we have anything like that? I can bring the VR set and anything needed but not sure if we already have games we can work with?
- Maybe have a fantasy football league of famous Men for men to order in terms of winners (these could just be little icons printed out and laminated - nothing fancy) - I can make the graphic for this.
- Have men nominate someone that is an important man in their life and have a badge sent to them (not sure how easy this is and if something already exists)
- Have the person have their picture with their hero - ie. is there a way for someone to have their photo with let’s say Abraham Lincoln without using photoshop?
I was thinking I would bring the table cloth, the Inclusive Bytes banners, some QR code keyrings (I think we still have some remaining), photos of what we do.

Oh these are all great ideas! How far back did you have to go to discover my guilty pleasure!?!? Hahaha. I reckon I’ll err on the side of caution and go for the tablet activity over the VR headset. But I like the AI LEGO character making and the puzzle.
